I’m Bas van Gaalen, a dreamer who’s moved 39 times and called eight countries home: Netherlands, France, Spain, Bahrain, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Thailand. My life’s been a whirlwind of adventure—sailing oceans, flying helicopters, painting portraits and living nowadays a very pleasant life in Chiang Rai – Thailand with my wife Agnes (we are together since 1985).
Instead of writing a book, as friends suggested, this website is an alternative that will remain current as long as I live, I thought that might be more fun.

The 60’s flower power, the 70’s Building Boats, or the 80’s Flying Helicopters, each post feels like flipping through a vivid magazine, where history meets my path.
